Sponsor a Sanctuary Horse

Please consider becoming a Guardian Angel to one of these deserving horses by sponsoring all or part of the cost of it's monthly care.

Your donation is fully tax deductible.

We are in desperate need of gentle handed trainers to assist us in the rehabilitation of these special horses. Please let us know if you or anyone you may know is interested in providing foster care and training to any of our horses.  This is one of our greatest challenges and something that could change the life of a horse forever.

These are the sanctuary horses of EVEA.  Permanent residents that will most likely require a lifetime of our care. These type horses put a tremendous financial strain on our rescue and any assistance is greatly appreciated.

To become a guardian angel for one of the horses below just select the amount you would like to donate each month and type the horses name you would like to help.

The horses featured on this page are either deemed unadoptable or will be extremely difficult to place in good homes.

Athena - Athena is a Sheldon mustang (Nevada Fish and Wildlife) mare.  She was part of a fertility study conducted on the wild horses in this herd management area and is also the mother to Midas, the cute palomino colt on the adoptable page.  Athena is a beautiful palomino mare that has not responded to humans.  She will occasionally allow Sandy to pet her neck but we cannot get any closer. Athena is not sound due to old injuries.  If you would like to sponsor any or all of the costs associated with Athena's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

April - April came to us from the Burns/Harney county seizure, in foal.  As with most of our rescued horses, we do not know what has happened to her in the past.  We do know that April is deathly afraid of humans.  April has destroyed livestock panels by going over the top when we attempted to get within 8 feet of her.  We do not know what horrific things have happened to this mare by humans in the past but we do know that for the rest of her life she will remain at EVEA. If you would like to sponsor all or part of April's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Candy - Candy is a 1/2 Arabian 1/2 Appaloosa mare, age unknown.  Candy was roped and choked into unconsciousness on more than one occasion by men that were hired to work at the breeding farm she came from.  When we rescued her, she was very thin and had 3 drag ropes hanging from her halter and one lasso around her neck.  Candy has been traumatized from her encounters with humans and we cannot touch her.  She will remain at EVEA as a sanctuary horse. If you would like to sponsor all or part of Candy's care, please click the "sponsor me" link .

Melody - Melody came from a starvation situation several years ago. On the property was a stallion living in a chicken coop and many emaciated mares.  The original owner of Melody and the others actually sued EVEA for the return of her horses twice, the judge threw her case out of court on both occasions.  Melody is the Queen of the ranch, she prefers people over other horses and has full run of the property.  Melody will remain at EVEA the rest of her life.  If you would like to sponsor all or part of Melody's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Katrina - Katrina is a 4-5 year old Sheldon mustang (Nevada Fish and Wildlife) mare.  She came from one of the wild horse round ups several years ago.  She is a big, powerful mare that will require extensive training, preferably from somebody with mustang experience.  It will take a very experienced horse person to gentle Katrina as she remains distant and skittish.  Katrina will remain a sanctuary horse until that perfect home is found.  If you would like to sponsor all or part of Katrina's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Charlie - Charlie was born on the ranch to a rescued mare.  Charlie is a hermaphrodite, having both male and female sex organs.  This is a very rare occurrence and very little information has been found in our research regarding long term problems if any.  Charlie is somewhat stunted and it is unknown as to what his/her future will bring. Charlie is unadoptable due to his/her medical condition. If you would like to sponsor all or part of Charlie's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Layla - Layla is a one-eyed Thoroughbred mare that came to us from a breeding farm gone horribly wrong.  This mare and several other horses were removed from a property where the horses were extremely neglected and allowed to breed indiscriminately. Layla cannot be touched and is very afraid of humans. Her eye loss is well healed and does not appear to bother her. Layla will remain a sanctuary horse where she can live out her life without fear. If you would like to sponsor all or part of Layla's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Waylon - Waylon is a handsome bay gelding that came to us from the Burns/Harney county seizure. Waylon obviously was handled at some time in his life either by choice or by force, as he is gelded.  He is wild to the point of bolting blindly when humans approach.  As you can see from this photograph, he wanted no part of us or the camera.  Waylon has an old hock injury making him unsound.  If you would like to sponsor all or part of  Waylon's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.

Whisper - Whisper is a very cute bay mare that also came from the Burns/Harney county seizure.  Whisper is a feral horse that usually will not make eye contact with us.  This was a rare photo opportunity for as she generally turns her head and moves away, avoiding us. She has recently been showing more interest in humans and the activities surrounding her.  We believe she is young and in the right hands will make a very nice horse. Until then, she will remain at EVEA.  If you would like to sponsor all or part of Whisper's care, please click the "sponsor me" link.
